NIKKEIJIN (Japanese Descendant)

Who may apply for this type of visa?

Children of Japanese Nationals born on or before the end of the World War II (referred to as the 2nd Generation), the 2nd Generation's descendants and their spouses are eligible to apply for this type of visa.


REQUIREMENTS :

  1. Visa Application Form (Complete details, especially the contact number must be specified.)
  2. One Photo (4.5cm x 4.5cm, white background)
  3. Copy of the Applicant's Passport
  4. Koseki Tohon of the1st or 2nd Generation
  5. Birth Certificate and Marriage Contract
  6. Family Tree
  7. Family Photos (old and new)
  8. Wedding Photos
  9. Baptismal Certificate (Please indicate the church's contact number, if possible.)
  10. DECS Certificate with CAV Number (Issued by the DECS) and Elementary School Record (Form-137) or High School Record
  11. NP DI Clearance (issued at Camp Crame )
  12. NBI Clearance
  13. Envelope for Return Mail (Please attach postal stamps so that the Embassy may be able to contact the applicant/s through mail.)
  14. Documents to Prove Self-support in Japan (such as an Employment Contract with a Japanese company, Income Certificate from a Guarantor in Japan , etc.).
  15. Foreign Registration Certificate from the City Hall of a Relative in Japan (in case the relative in Japan is under the family of the same 2nd Generation and is the applicant's Guarantor).
  16. Employment Certificate of a Relative in Japan (in case the relative in Japan is under the family of the same 2nd Generation and is the Guarantor).

  25. Detailed history of the 1st Generation, 2nd Generation, and their Spouses; Nationality, whether the 2nd Generation chose/obtained either a Filipino nationality or a different one; Japanese relatives in Japan, if any
  26. Birth Certificate of the Spouse of the1st Generation
  27. Marriage Contract of the 1st Generation
  28. Birth Certificate of the 2nd Generation
  29. Birth Certificate of the Spouse of the 2nd Generation
  30. Marriage Contract of the 2nd Generation
  31. Death Certificate/s (if the 1st and/or 2nd Generation already died)
  32. Documents to prove the relationship with the1st Generation and relatives in Japan
  33. Family Photos of the1st Generation and the 2nd Generation
  34. Other documents to prove the relationship between the1st Generation and the present descendants

REMINDERS FOR Visa Applications WITH a Certificate of Eligibility :

  1. Visa applications may be filed personally or through the Embassy's Accredited or Registered Nikkei-jin Agencies during designated times.
  2. When a visa application is accepted, the Embassy issues a receipt with a seven(7)-digit number. After the examination of documents and/or interview, other additional documents may also be requested. In case these are necessary, please submit the additional requirements within the specified period.
  3. Passports may be picked up on any working day on or after the verification date. In case of a lost receipt, a Police Report together with a Notarized Affidavit of Loss should be submitted to the Embassy.

REMINDERS FOR Visa Applications WITHOUT a Certificate of Eligibility :

  1. All documents must be original copies except for the applicant's passport.
  2. All documents must be put inside a long, brown envelope (please do not seal) with the word "NIKKEI-JIN" in bold letters written on it and must be submitted on the designated time at the Nikkei-jin Window. When a visa application is accepted, the Embassy issues a receipt with a seven (7)-digit number. The applicant/s should keep this receipt at all times.
  3. In the examination process, the Embassy may request for additional documents by sending a letter through mail. In this case, please submit the additional documents during the designated time for filing visa applications.
  4. After the examination of documents, the applicant/s is/are to be interviewed. The interview schedule will be notified by telephone through the contact number/s provided in the visa application form. Depending on each case, the Embassy may request for other family members to be interviewed together with the applicant/s. Please take note of such instructions.
  5. The Embassy will notify the applicant/s when the passport/s shall be released. Passports may be picked up on any working day on or after the designated date. In case of a lost receipt, a Police Report together with a Notarized Affidavit of Loss should be submitted to the Embassy.
